Claude Monet

The Museum possesses the world's largest collection of works by Claude Monet. For this we must thank Madame Donop de Monchy, daughter of Georges de Bellio, the impressionists' physician and friend, and Michel Monet, the painter's younger son.

Impression Soleil Levant
Promenade à Argenteuil
Les cousines

Housed in a specially built exhibition hall, this collection offers the public a unique opportunity to see major works from the various stages of the master's career and thus follow the development of his technique.

Together with the Le Havre caricatures of around 1858 and continuing through to the waterlilies, irises, Japanese bridges and rose arbours inspired by his garden at Giverny, the Museum presents.

The works painted on the Normandy coast, the beach at Trouville, Camille, and the famous picture that gave impressionism its name: Impression: Sunrise

The Argenteuil canvases, walks and railway bridges, the fog at Vétheuil, the views of Paris, the Tuileries, the Saint-Lazare railway station

His travel souvenirs, the Houses of Parliament in London, Charing Cross Bridge, Mt. Kolsaas in Norway, Dolceacqua in Bordighera and many other paintings.
